Breakstone's Large Curd 4% Milkfat Cottage Cheese is a 16 oz (453 g) tub of large-curd cottage cheese sold in the United States under the Breakstone's brand, whose front label carries the line "Established 1882".[^off][^amazon] The current ingredient list is cultured pasteurized skim milk and cream, tapioca starch and salt; an earlier transcription listed whey, modified food starch, gums, natural flavor and vitamin D3 as well.[^usda][^off] Breakstone's goes back to the New York dairy business of Joseph and Isaac Breakstone, who sold it in 1928 to National Dairy Products, later merged with Kraft-Phenix.[^nosher] Kraft Heinz sold its rights to the brand to an affiliate of Groupe Lactalis in November 2021, and the brand is now part of Lactalis USA's Heritage Dairy division.[^kh-sale][^fooddive]
