Saskia is the own-label mineral water of the German discounter Lidl, and this 0.5-litre one-way PET bottle is the carbonated Classic sort drawn from the Saskia spring at Jessen (Elster) in Saxony-Anhalt.[^lidl-saskia][^off-back-2023b] The label sells it as natural mineral water with carbon dioxide added, bottled at the point of extraction in 06917 Jessen, and says it suits a low-sodium diet.[^off-back-2023b] It is filled by MEG Weißenfels GmbH & Co. KG, which bottles Saskia for Lidl at five German spring sites and lists the 0,5-litre Classic in its current range.[^meg-water] Lidl reports that Stiftung Warentest rated the Saskia Classic from the Jessen spring 1,7 ("gut"), with 1,0 for microbiological quality.[^lidl-saskia] The barcode is an EAN-8, allocated individually rather than out of a company prefix.
Photographs taken between 2020 and 2024 show two label generations. The silver label carried the Saskia crown, the CLASSIC band, "QUELLE JESSEN" set vertically and a gold DLG roundel; its analysis frame first gave five figures per litre and by August 2020 eight: sodium 19,7 mg, potassium 2,4 mg, magnesium 5,9 mg, calcium 40,0 mg, fluoride 0,25 mg, chloride 8,5 mg, sulphate 4,3 mg and hydrogen carbonate 194 mg.[^off-front-2020a][^off-analysis-2020a][^off-analysis-2020b] By July 2021 the bottle carried the current design, with the spring name in script and a boxed "Natriumarm".[^off-front-2021] The 2024 label adds a panel saying the bottle body is made entirely of recycled material, and credits the analysis to Laborunion Prof. Höll & Co. GmbH, Bad Elster, 29 September 2016.[^off-front-2024][^off-analysis-2024] MEG's composition sheet for the Jessen spring, dated 2 December 2021, prints the same eight values and adds silicic acid 16,3 mg, a total mineralisation of 276 mg/l, pH 7,7 and a total hardness of 6,96 °dH.[^meg-jessen]
