Beck's Pils is the flagship pilsner of the Bremen brewery founded in 1873, sold here in the 0.5-litre returnable green glass bottle that the old Barcodepedia catalogued under EAN-8 41001318 in 2008.[^oldsite] The back label declares "Pils · Alk. 4,9 % vol." over an ingredient statement of brewing water, barley malt and hops, and the beer is brewed to the German Reinheitsgebot.[^offreinheit] The food business operator printed on the pack is Anheuser-Busch InBev Deutschland GmbH & Co. KG of Am Deich 18/19, 28199 Bremen,[^impressum] and the brewery has belonged to the Belgian group since Interbrew bought it for 1.8 billion euros in February 2002.[^dewiki] A 2024 photograph of the same bottle adds a deposit line in Swiss francs beside the German Mehrweg wording.[^offdepot]
Heinrich Beck, Lüder Rutenberg and Thomas May founded the Kaiser-Brauerei Beck & May in Bremen's Neustadt on 27 June 1873; the pilsner developed from 1876 won a gold medal in Philadelphia, and the key of the Bremen coat of arms, slanted the other way after the city objected, became the mark still on the label.[^enwiki] Beck's is exported to roughly 120 countries and remains the range's anchor alongside Gold, Blue and Unfiltered.[^becksde]
