JPS Design Black is a German pack of 23 filter cigarettes in a flip-top box with cellophane, recorded by a cigarette-pack collection in 2010 under the EAN-8 barcode 40295398 with a price of 5 euros, tar 10 and nicotine 0.8, and Reemtsma as the producer.[^zigsam] It belongs to John Player Special, the cigarette line Imperial Brands launched in the United Kingdom in 1970 and sells in eighteen countries beyond it, chief among them Germany.[^ib-brands] In Germany the brand is run by Reemtsma Cigarettenfabriken GmbH of Hamburg, which publishes the German JPS site.[^jps-de]
The same collection records a companion JPS Design Yellow pack from Germany in 2010 with the same tar, nicotine and price under barcode 40295428.[^zigsam] The line takes its name and its black and gold livery from John Player & Sons of Nottingham, part of Imperial Tobacco since 1901, whose colours Team Lotus raced in Formula One from 1972 to 1986.[^wp-players]
