KitKat is the chocolate-covered wafer bar Rowntree's of York created in 1935; Nestlé has owned it since buying Rowntree's in 1988 and makes it everywhere except the United States.[^wikikitkat] This EAN-8 is the flow-wrapped pack of three four-finger bars of 41.5 g, 124.5 g in all, sold in France and in Italy, where retailers call it KitKat Trio.[^packfr23][^spesa] The French wrapper names Nestlé France in Issy-les-Moulineaux for consumer questions, while the Italian data sheet and Amazon.it give Nestlé Deutschland AG in Frankfurt as producer.[^packfr23][^spesa][^amazonit] Each bar is a crisp wafer covered in milk chocolate making up 68.2 % of its weight.[^packfr23]
The label has changed several times. The 2019 French wrapper tied the Cocoa Plan to UTZ and listed palm oil, flavourings and salt.[^packfr19] The 2023 French wrapper switched to Rainforest Alliance mass-balance cocoa with palm and shea fats.[^packfr23] The 2025 Italian wrapper adds glucose syrup and whey permeate.[^packit] A 2017-2018 French wrapper photographed under the same number was marked "Encore + de lait & cacao".[^packfr18]
