## About <!--about-->
Quillaia is the extract of the inner bark of Quillaja saponaria, the soap bark tree of central Chile. The bark is rich in saponins, which lather in water, and the extract is used as a food additive and as a foaming agent for drinks, as well as in pharmaceuticals, personal care products and agricultural sprays.[^wikipedia-qs] Soft-drink labels print it as "Quillaia Extract" or "Quillaja Extract": the United States label of Mug Root Beer carries it as the last ingredient.[^amazon]
