## About <!--about-->
Paracetamol, called acetaminophen in the United States, is an analgesic and antipyretic used against fever and mild to moderate pain. It is sold generically and under brand names such as Panadol and Tylenol, and at the recommended adult maximum of three to four grams a day it is safe and effective in the short term, while overdose causes delayed liver damage.[^wp] On a label it appears as the active ingredient of a tablet, capsule or suspension with its strength beside it, as in the 500 mg per tablet of M & A Pharmachem's Paracetamol 500 mg Tablets BP.[^pil]
