## About <!--about-->
Carvone is a terpenoid found in many essential oils and most abundantly in the oils of caraway seed, spearmint and dill, and it is the compound chiefly responsible for the flavour of all three.[^wikipedia] Its two mirror-image forms smell different from one another, which is the textbook demonstration of chirality in the sense of smell. Most carvone used in food and flavouring is made from limonene; one form also serves as a sprout inhibitor for stored potatoes and in insect control.[^wikipedia] On cosmetic labels it is declared as a fragrance component.
