## About <!--about-->
Beef gelatine is gelatine obtained from cattle rather than from pigs or fish, and labels that name the species print it so that readers who avoid one animal can tell them apart. Marks & Spencer's Curiously Strong Mints declare it in all three of the pack's languages, as Beef Gelatine, Gélatine de bœuf and rundergelatine, the 2013 label listing it under the category name Gelling Agent.[^pack-2015][^pack-2013] It is not an allergen under EU 1169/2011 Annex II, but it makes a product neither vegetarian nor vegan, and it is the reason a sweet that otherwise contains only sugars and flavourings is neither.
