Annatto is the orange colouring taken from the seeds of the achiote tree, and its water-soluble form is norbixin. The Food Standards Agency lists the pair separately, E160b(i) as "Annatto, bixin" and E160b(ii) as "Annatto, norbixin"; the identity field here carries E160b because the sub-form does not fit the E-number pattern, and the exact designation is kept as an alias.[^fsa] It is declared on the current Polish label for Pringles Original as "barwnik (annato norbiksyna)" and appears in Open Food Facts' French ingredient text as "colorant (norbixine de rocou)", while the older panel photographed on the can declares no colour at all.[^kupiec][^off]
