LAND-LEBEN Backerbsen is the Austrian maker's line of fried yeast-dough soup pearls, the article the firm calls the original and sells in 100 g, 200 g, 400 g and 1 kg bags as well as in catering units.[^llbackerbsen] The classic recipe is a wheat and pea flour batter with whole egg powder and skimmed milk powder, fried in RSPO-certified palm fat, and every retail size shares the blue "Backerbsen / Soup & Snack-Pearls" pack.[^offfront][^llbackerbsen] Since October 2018 a separate 175 g Backerbsen baked in 100 % sunflower oil has run beside it, with its own nutrition table.[^llsonne] Ready-made Backerbsen were first sold in 1953 by the Vorarlberg baker Rudolf Oelz, whose family still owns the firm.[^wpbackerbsen]
