Backin is Dr. Oetker's baking powder, the product the company was founded on: August Oetker began selling it in 1891 in a sachet holding exactly the dose for 500 g of flour, and the pre-measured sachet is still how the line is sold.[^wikipedia] Polish packs of the 30 g sachet printed the Backin name beside the Dr. Oetker oval and described themselves as "Proszek do pieczenia Backin" at least from 2019 to 2023.[^backin2019][^backin2020][^backin2023] The label photographed in 2026 drops Backin and reads "Proszek do pieczenia Dr. Oetkera" instead, but Polish and British retailers go on listing the same barcode as Dr. Oetker Backin.[^back2026][^pskuk]
