The Wm. Wrigley Jr. Company, also known as the Wrigley Company, is an American confectionery and chewing gum company founded in Chicago on 1 April 1891 by William Wrigley Jr. and based since 2012 in the Global Innovation Center on Goose Island, Chicago; it is the largest manufacturer and marketer of chewing gum in the world, selling in 184 countries and districts and operating 21 production facilities in 14 countries.[^wp-wrigley] It bought Life Savers and Altoids from Kraft Foods in 2005, became a subsidiary of Mars, Incorporated in 2008, and was merged with Mars Chocolate North America in 2016 to form Mars Wrigley Confectionery.[^wp-wrigley]
