Sony Music Direct (Japan) Inc. (株式会社ソニー・ミュージックダイレクト) was a Tokyo record company of the Sony Music group that made and sold planned releases drawn from the group's recordings, chiefly reissues and cross-label compilations, and ran a mail-order CD club.[^ja-wiki-smd] It was founded on 16 February 1996 as Sony Music House, split from Sony Family Club, and took the Sony Music Direct name on 1 April 2003; its catalogue numbers begin with the sales code MH, a remnant of the Sony Music House name.[^ja-wiki-smd] It manufactured the 2004 Japanese paper-sleeve CD of Bob Dylan's Blood on the Tracks, MHCP-377.[^discogs][^amazon-jp]
