Rieber & Søn Oy was the Finnish company that made Panda liquorice and chocolate at Vaajakoski in Jyväskylä between the 1988 management buy-out of the factory from SOK and 2000. The trade register entered it as Oy Panda Ab on 30 November 1988 with business ID 0721825-6, its line of business the manufacture of cocoa, chocolate and sugar confectionery, recorded the name Rieber & Søn Oy on 8 November 2000 and shows it ceased on 10 January 2005.[^prh-rieber-oy] On that same November day a second company, Profipri Oy, took the name Oy Panda Ab and with it the Panda business.[^prh-panda] This company held the Panda brand for those twelve years, which is why the brand page carries it as a former owner.
Panda's own history dates the stages: SOK sold the business to the factory's management in 1988, creating a privately owned Oy Panda Ab; the Norwegian food group Rieber & Søn ASA bought Panda in 1995; and the Finnish fund manager MB-Rahastot bought Oy Panda Ab in 2000.[^panda-story] Finnish Wikipedia tells the same sequence, and adds that the management bought the company back into Finnish ownership together with a private equity investor.[^wikipedia-fi]
