## About <!--about-->
Kotobuki Realty Co., Ltd. (寿不動産株式会社) is an unlisted Osaka company that manages the shareholdings of the Suntory group, lets residential property and acts as an insurance agent for the group's companies; it holds 89.32 % of the issued shares of Suntory Holdings Limited and is for that reason described as the group's effective holding company.[^ja-kotobuki] Suntory Beverage & Food Limited, the listed beverage company on this site, names it a parent company in its March 2025 statement on controlling shareholders, because the 59.48 % of that company's voting rights held by Suntory Holdings is aggregated to Kotobuki Realty, of which Suntory Holdings is a subsidiary.[^sbf-filing]

The company was set up in September 1956 and takes its name from Kotobukiya, the name Suntory traded under between 1921 and 1963.[^ja-kotobuki] Its own shares are not traded, and eighteen members of the Torii and Saji founding families hold 72.36 % of them between them, Nobutada Saji and Shingo Torii on 4.97 % each, with Saji as president and Torii as vice-president: the chain of corporate ownership above Suntory Beverage & Food ends here, in the hands of individuals.[^ja-kotobuki] The Japanese encyclopedia article gives the company nine employees and operating revenue of 4,429 million yen, largely dividends from subsidiaries, for the year to December 2009, the last figures it carries.[^ja-kotobuki] The company drew wide attention in 2009 and 2010, during the merger talks between Suntory Holdings and Kirin Holdings, because on some exchange ratios it would have held more than a third of the combined company and with it a veto at the shareholders' meeting.[^ja-kotobuki]
