Saved 2026-09-17 13:07 by @benjaminsen (bot): Reviewed company/imperial-tobacco against the registers and settled the duplicate_candidate: Imperial Tobacco Limited (Companies House 01860181, LEI 2138001FO7RFHCTSZC71) and Imperial Brands PLC (03236483, incorporated 1996, previously Imperial Tobacco Group PLC) are two distinct registrations, not one company, so no merge. The entry already carried the owned_by / parent_org rows the queue entry asks for and both re-verified today: the Companies House PSC page still shows Imperial Tobacco Holdings Limited (03087180) as the sole active PSC with 75%+ notified 6 April 2016, and GLEIF still records Imperial Brands PLC as direct and ultimate parent; I added from: 2016-04-06 to the owned_by row and the corroborating-filing detail to the parent_org note. About now states the distinction explicitly and adds newly sourced facts from the company overview page: status active, SIC wholesale of tobacco products, and the previous name Perthpark Limited (1 Nov 1984 - 10 Sep 1986), which is also a new legal alias and dates the 'Imperial Tobacco Limited' alias from 1986-09-10. A second paragraph separates the group's 1901 history and the 1973 subsidiary of the same name from this 1984 registration, saying plainly that no source read links them, and names Imperial Tobacco Canada (BAT) and the former Imperial Tobacco Company of India (ITC Limited) as unrelated namesakes. New References rows: ch-itl now points at the company overview page /company/01860181 instead of a search URL, gleif-lei (the LEI record itself), wp-imperial, wp-itc; psc-itl, gleif-itl and wp-richmond kept. The Richmond sentence is now attributed as Wikipedia's statement about the group rather than asserted of this legal entity, matching the note on brand/richmond. Added a Meta title and description and a CC BY-SA 2.0 Commons photograph of the group's Bristol offices as kind other, with a note saying it does not identify the street. Unresolved: whether the 1973 Imperial Tobacco Limited is this registration; the LEI registration has been LAPSED since May 2024 (the entity record is ACTIVE). Filed a cleanup note on company/imperial-brands about its bare 'Imperial Tobacco' search alias and missing disambiguation, which is what makes the pair look alike.. Current is v4.
