BMG Japan (株式会社BMG JAPAN, registered as 株式会社BMGJAPAN) was a Tokyo record company, formerly the Japanese company of Sony BMG Music Entertainment and from October 2008 a subsidiary of Sony Music Entertainment (Japan); its office in Rokubanchō, Chiyoda and its catalogue codes passed to the Ariola Japan label of Sony Music Labels.[^ja-wiki-bmgjapan] Discogs credits BMG Japan, Inc. as manufacturer of Japanese releases such as the 2005 CD of Natasha Bedingfield's Unwritten, BVCP-21434.[^discogs]

The company was set up in October 1987 as BMG Victor, a joint venture of Bertelsmann with Victor Company of Japan and Victor Musical Industries that took over the RCA catalogue of RVC. It was renamed BMG Japan in January 1997, absorbed Fun House in July 1999 to become BMG Funhouse, absorbed Zomba Records Japan in 2003 and took the name BMG Japan again in October 2005. In October 2009 its Japanese repertoire went to the newly formed Ariola Japan and its international RCA/Jive group to Sony Music Japan International, and the company ceased to exist.[^ja-wiki-bmgjapan] Discogs gives the same sequence and names the Bertelsmann Music Group as its parent.[^discogs-bmgjapan]
