(1) Flag from review-0a40be is correct: Discogs release 870788 (Fiona Apple, Argentina 2005) credits BMG Ariola Argentina S.A. as distributor and record company under Sony BMG (p). MusicBrainz shows the legal entity was not wound up in 2004: it merged with Sony Music Entertainment (Argentina) S.A. and was renamed Sony BMG Music Entertainment (Argentina) S.A. on 2005-04-22, then Sony Music Entertainment Argentina S.A. on 2008-12-19. A Boletín Oficial merger notice of 2005-09-06 (seen only as a search snippet on dateas.com, which is Cloudflare-blocked to the fetcher and not archived) names BMG Ariola Argentina as the absorbing company, IGJ no. 1.618.974; this was not cited or written because it could not be fetched. Rewrote disambiguation, summary and About to match; added wikidata Q60675900. (2) owner_unknown: the registered shareholder is not in any source I could read, so ownership stays parent_org: bertelsmann-music-group until 2004-08 (MusicBrainz, status raised from derived to sourced), sony-bmg-music-entertainment 2005-04-22 to 2008-12-19 (MusicBrainz). Added renamed_to company/sony-music-entertainment-argentina and created that stub (parent_org sony-music-entertainment from 2009, renamed_from this page, legal aliases for both Sony names), whose owner page already has its own chain. BMG Ariola Argentina S.A. was the Argentine record company of BMG Entertainment International, Bertelsmann's music group, issuing Ariola releases and those of other labels in Argentina; its earliest credits date from 1989, and it worked alongside the pressing firm Electrosonora Manufacturas Saavedra.[^discogs-bmgar] It distributed the Argentine pressing of Natasha Bedingfield's album Unwritten in 2004,[^discogs-ar] and its name still appears as distributor and record company on the 2005 Argentine pressing of Fiona Apple's Extraordinary Machine, issued under Sony BMG copyright.[^discogs-fa]
Bertelsmann's music group, BMG, ceased as such on 5 August 2004, when its recorded-music business went into the Sony BMG joint venture.[^mb-bmgar] The Argentine company then merged with Sony Music Entertainment (Argentina) S.A., the former Discos CBS, and on 22 April 2005 the combined company took the name Sony BMG Music Entertainment (Argentina) S.A., owned by Sony BMG Music Entertainment; on 19 December 2008 it was renamed Sony Music Entertainment Argentina S.A.[^mb-sbmgar] Discogs dates the end of its operations to the 2004 merger, when its publishing moved to the Sony BMG company.[^discogs-bmgar]
