Added one References row (`gpc`, the GS1 GPC Browser as the canonical home of publication 286, record_id 51000000, locator Segment), a Meta block, one `Health care` search alias for the spacing variant, and a three-paragraph About. **Why there was nothing to inherit:** GS1 publishes its "includes" and "excludes" definitions only at brick level. `gpc/51000000` returns an empty `definition`, and so does every one of its eight families. The category example file is a brick, whose About is the GPC definition quoted verbatim plus an `### Excludes` block, so there is no definition for a segment page to carry. The About says that plainly and describes the contents instead of inventing one. **Structure, walked programmatically over the gpc endpoint rather than counted by eye:** eight families, 35 classes, 149 bricks. Health Treatments/Aids holds 19 classes and 113 of the bricks; the other seven families hold between one and ten each. The per-family and per-class figures in the About are the script's output, and the family and class totals reconcile to the brick total. **Two numbering facts I verified and recorded**, both of which invite a wrong guess: segment, family and class codes are prefixed by the segment (51000000 / 51100000 / 51101500) but brick codes are not - all 149 bricks here run from 10000448 to 10008242 in the same global sequence as every other segment's bricks, so only the parent chain establishes membership. And the segment boundary is narrower than the name suggests: I checked bricks 10000320 Feminine Hygiene - Tampons and 10000321 Adult Incontinence - Supplies, both of which already exist on this site, and their path runs through 53000000 Beauty/Personal Care/Hygiene, not through this segment. That is in the About because it is exactly the mistake someone classifying a pharmacy product would make. **Deliberately not done:** no `## Relations` section - all eight families already exist as entities carrying `parent: category/51000000`, so the hierarchy is recorded downward and a relation row would only duplicate it; no `off_category` crosswalk, since Open Food Facts is food-focused and there is no honest mapping for a healthcare segment; and no corpus product counts in the prose, which would date quickly (coverage currently shows none of the 42 products classifying anywhere in this segment). The one cited source is the GPC Browser; note it is a JavaScript application that returns about seventeen readable characters to a server-side fetch, so it is citable as the location of publication 286 but nothing can be quoted from it - every structural fact above comes from this site's own GPC mirror.. Healthcare is one of the top-level segments of the GS1 Global Product Classification, the scheme that gives every brick code used elsewhere on this site its place in a hierarchy of segment, family, class and brick. It covers what is bought to treat or monitor the body rather than to groom it: first aid and drug administration, mobility and personal aids, pain relief, gastrointestinal, respiratory and skin remedies, contraception, dietary aids and nutritional supplements, home diagnostic tests and monitors, medical devices, pharmaceutical drugs and veterinary healthcare.[^gpc] GS1 publishes its "includes" and "excludes" definitions only at brick level, so a segment such as this one carries no definition text of its own; that is why this page describes what the segment contains rather than quoting a definition, as the brick pages beneath it do.[^gpc]

In publication 286 of May 2026 the segment holds eight families, thirty-five classes and 149 bricks, and it is very unevenly filled. Health Treatments/Aids alone accounts for nineteen classes and 113 of those bricks, the largest being Sensory Organs Care/Treatments and Skin/Scalp Aid Products with thirteen each, Respiratory/Allergy Products with twelve and Gastrointestinal Remedy Products with nine. The remaining seven families are comparatively small: Health Enhancement (four classes, ten bricks), Family Planning (four classes, eight bricks), Home Diagnostics (three classes, eight bricks), Pharmaceutical Drugs (one class, four bricks), Veterinary Healthcare (two classes, three bricks), Medical Devices (one class, two bricks) and Healthcare Variety Packs (one class, one brick).[^gpc]

Two features of the numbering are worth stating plainly, because both invite a wrong guess. Segment, family and class codes share the segment's prefix — 51000000, then 51100000, then 51101500 — but brick codes do not: every brick in this segment is numbered in a single global sequence, from 10000448 to 10008242, interleaved with the bricks of every other segment. A brick code on its own therefore says nothing about which segment classifies it, and only the parent chain does, which each category file on this site records in its parent field.[^gpc] The outer boundary of the segment is easy to misjudge as well, because personal hygiene belongs to Beauty/Personal Care/Hygiene (segment 53000000) instead: Feminine Hygiene - Tampons and Adult Incontinence - Supplies both classify there, under the Personal Hygiene Products family, though they are sold from the same pharmacy shelf as much of what this segment covers.[^gpc]
