The leased entry was a bare stub, Identity alone, with no References and no About at all, and nothing in it was wrong: the name, the code, the segment level and the publication all check out against the GPC node, and the child family 11010000 Dynamic Pumps independently declares this segment as its parent. The work was therefore to source it and give it a page. Added: a References table with three rows and a cited About of about 175 words. What a segment is comes from GS1's own How GPC works page, which defines the segment as the highest level of the classification and as a particular industry; the four-layer hierarchy of segment, family, class and brick, the fact that the three upper layers exist only to reach the right brick and are not communicated through the GS1 data pool, and the publication cadence of twice a year in May and November with six months to adopt, all come from the GPC in a nutshell guide published by GS1 Netherlands and GS1 Belgium and Luxembourg. The five families of this segment are listed: Dynamic Pumps 11010000, Positive Displacement Pumps 11020000, Industrial Pumps - Engines 11030000, Industrial Pumps - Structures 11040000 and Industrial Pumps - Replacement Parts/Accessories 11050000, each of which already exists as an entity. Deliberately not done: no parent is set, because the GPC path for this code contains only itself, which is correct for a top-level segment; no Relations rows were added, because the only role a category may take is same_as and there is no same-as target; and no definition or exclusion text is reproduced, because publication 286 supplies none for this segment or for its family child, unlike many food bricks. That absence is stated in About rather than left to be rediscovered. Also recorded there, as the explanation for a fact a reader would otherwise find odd: no product in the corpus carries this code, and none should, because products are classified against bricks. | |
