## About <!--about-->
Lucozade is a British soft-drink brand created in Newcastle in 1927 by the pharmacist William Walker Hunter, who sold it as Glucozade; the Beecham Group bought the business in 1938 and sold the drink as Lucozade from then on.[^wikipedia] A glucose and water solution, it was sold mainly through pharmacies as a drink for the sick until it was rebranded in 1978 as a "pick me up" and in 1983 as a sports and energy drink in a PET bottle, after which British sales tripled to almost 75 million pounds between 1984 and 1989.[^wikipedia] Beecham became SmithKline Beecham in 1989 and GlaxoSmithKline in 2000, which sold Lucozade and Ribena to Suntory in September 2013 for 1.35 billion pounds; the British company for the brands is Lucozade Ribena Suntory Limited.[^wikipedia][^ch-lrs] The brand's current ranges are Energy, Sport, Alert and Zero.[^lucozade]
