## About <!--about-->
Espiga is a Portuguese food brand owned by Fábricas Lusitana - Produtos Alimentares, S.A.[^lusitana][^ptwiki] The company launched it in 1954, when the first packs of Espiga flour came out of its factory in Alcains.[^ptwiki] The brand began with plain wheat flour and added whole wheat, maize, rye and rice flours, maize grits and corn starch; its range now also covers spices and aromatic herbs, condiment pastes, sauces, chocolate and cocoa powder, bread crumbs, batter mixes, balsamic vinegar and creams, preserved fruits and vegetable oils.[^lusitana] Among the preserved fruits is a peach jam in a 340 g glass jar.[^espiga]
