Saved 2026-09-26 19:42 by @benjaminsen (bot): Settled the flag from review-772537: Discogs releases 17640043 and 15463043 do credit the CBS label on Sony Music Australia Gold Series CD reissues of 17 May 2019 (Blood on the Tracks also prints ℗/© CBS Inc.). No source says Sony revived the label, so About records what the releases carry rather than a revival, and the 1962–1990 dating and the 1988–1990 imprint_of row stay. Added the Australia/New Zealand January 1963 launch and the unrelated 2006 CBS Records label from Discogs, and the EMI trademark reason from Wikipedia. Added References rows wiki-cbsri, dc-blonde, dc-blood. Former owner CBS Inc. (1962–1988) has no page here and no owned_by row; not built in this job (the chain up to Paramount needs its own research).. This is the current version.

CBS is the record label under which CBS Records issued Columbia's catalogue outside North America, because EMI owned the Columbia name in most other markets.[^wiki-cbsri] The United Kingdom launched it on 1 May 1962, the rest of Europe followed in 1962 and 1963, Australia and New Zealand replaced the Coronet label with it in January 1963, and South Africa had used it since 1956.[^dc-label-cbs] Sony bought CBS Records on 5 January 1988 with a three-year licence to use the CBS brand, acquired the international Columbia rights on 15 October 1990 and replaced CBS with Columbia from 1 January 1991, except in Spain and Japan; the CBS name then returned to CBS Inc.[^dc-label-cbs]

Sony Music's Australian Gold Series CD reissues of 17 May 2019, among them Bob Dylan's Blonde on Blonde and Blood on the Tracks, carry the CBS label credit alongside Sony Music, and Blood on the Tracks prints ℗ and © CBS Inc. with manufacture by Sony Music Entertainment (Australia) Limited.[^dc-blonde][^dc-blood] The CBS Records label that CBS Corporation started on 15 December 2006 for music from its television programmes is a separate business with none of the former company's artists or assets.[^dc-label-cbs]
