CBS/Sony is the record label launched in Japan in 1968 by CBS/Sony Records Inc., a 50/50 joint venture of CBS Inc. and Sony; the label passed to CBS/Sony Inc. in August 1973.[^dc-label] It was also used in South Korea, Hong Kong and South-East Asia, and in Spain in the 1990s until about 1997, where Sony did not yet hold the Columbia name.[^dc-label][^mb-label] After Sony bought CBS Records, the Japanese label was renamed Sony in 1991, first by dropping "CBS" from the logo.[^dc-label] Its releases include the 1989 Japanese CD of Bob Dylan's Oh Mercy, CSCS-5058.[^discogs]
