Tommy Boy Records, also called Tommy Boy Entertainment, is an American independent record label and multimedia brand founded in New York in 1981 by Tom Silverman; Warner Bros. Records bought half of it in 1985 and was its partner until 2002.^[1] Discogs dates the company Tommy Boy Music to September 1980.^[2] It distributed the San Francisco label 75 Ark for most of that label's existence.^[3]
