About Suntory Oceania

Suntory Oceania, formerly Frucor and Frucor Suntory, is a Japanese-owned drinks company headquartered in Sydney and Auckland, best known for the V energy drink launched in 1997, and a partner of PepsiCo and Sanitarium in the region.[1] Pepsi-Cola International made Frucor Beverages its exclusive franchise bottler in New Zealand in October 1999, taking over from Pepsi-Cola Bottlers New Zealand, a joint venture with Lion Nathan that had held the rights to Pepsi, Diet Pepsi, Pepsi Max, 7UP and Mountain Dew for seven years.[2]

The New Zealand Apple and Pear Board founded Frucor in 1962 and launched Fresh Up; Pacific Equity Partners bought it in 1998, Groupe Danone in 2002, and Suntory in October 2008.[1] Frucor Beverages was renamed Frucor Suntory in June 2017, and after a 2024 partnership with Suntory Global Spirits in the region it took the name Suntory Oceania.[1] In 2022 Frucor Suntory, as PepsiCo's New Zealand partner, moved the 600 ml Pepsi, Pepsi Max, 7Up and Mountain Dew bottles to fully recycled plastic.[3]
