About Sony DADC Canada
Sony DADC Canada was formed in 2005 after Sony Disc Manufacturing and Sony DADC Austria announced, on 30 March 2004, the unification of Sony's disc plants outside Japan under the Sony DADC name; it took over the Toronto plant that had run as Sony Music Canada.[1] The plant had begun LP and cassette production in the late 1960s, added printing in 1993 and CD manufacturing in 1994; in October 2007 it covered 166,000 square feet and made over 4 million CDs and 800,000 DVDs a month.[2] Its discs carry the glass-master code IFPI LW60 from 2005, mould codes in the 67xx series and sequential S-numbered matrices.[2]
The company announced a multi-year lease at 1121 Leslie Street, Toronto, on 26 October 2006 and doubled its DVD replication capacity that year.[2] The plant closed in 2011.[1]
