About Sanpellegrino

Sanpellegrino S.p.A. is the Italian mineral-water and soft-drink company behind the S.Pellegrino, Acqua Panna, Levissima and Nestlé Vera waters and the Aranciata, Chinò, Limonata and Sanbittèr drinks, with ten production sites in Italy, about 1,850 staff and roughly 90 per cent of output exported.[1] Its registered seat is at Località Ruspino in San Pellegrino Terme (Bergamo) and its head office at Via del Mulino 6 in Assago near Milan.[2] The Registro Imprese denomination is SANPELLEGRINO S.P.A., with the registered short form SA.PE. S.P.A., codice fiscale and registration number 00753740158 and REA number BG 2188.[3]

The company was founded on 21 May 1899 by the Milanese lawyer Cesare Mazzoni as Società Anonima delle Terme di San Pellegrino,[1] and took its present name on 20 April 1970.[4] It absorbed Crippa & Berger, owner of Fonti Levissima, in 1990 and Recoaro in 1992, and sold Recoaro to the Dutch group Refresco in 2016.[1] English Wikipedia dates its purchase by Perrier Vittel SA, the Nestlé water division, to 1997,[4] while the Italian article dates its complete absorption by Nestlé to 1999.[1] GLEIF records Nestlé Waters of Issy-les-Moulineaux as the direct parent and Nestlé S.A. of Vevey as the ultimate one,[5] and the company's own 2015 consolidated accounts name Nestlé Waters S.A. of France as the controlling company and Nestlé S.A. of Switzerland at the head of the group.[3]
