Samsung Electronics is a South Korean consumer electronics company based in Suwon. It was founded on 13 January 1969 as Samsung Electric Industries, part of the Samsung Group.[1] Its storage business made SpinPoint hard disk drives until 2011, when it sold its hard disk drive operations to Seagate Technology for cash and a stake of about 9.6 % in Seagate.[1][2]
