Penny is a German discount supermarket chain, founded by the Leibbrand group in 1973 and fully owned by the REWE Group since 1989; it also trades in several other European countries as Penny Market or Penny Markt.[1] The German operating company is PENNY Markt GmbH of Cologne, registered at the Amtsgericht Köln under HRB 27043.[2] Its own label for mineral water is Elitess.[3]
