NPG Records

About

NPG Records is the record label Prince owned; its name is short for New Power Generation. He set it up to release his music after Warner Bros. Records shut down Paisley Park Records, and it released mainly his own albums and side projects.^[1] Discogs dates its founding to 1993, during his dispute with Warner Bros. It notes that the label reached shops through pressing and distribution deals with record companies or digitally, and names NPG Records, Inc. as its parent entry.^[2][3] It holds the © and ℗ for the 2004 US CD of Musicology, which Columbia Records manufactured and distributed.^[4]
