Nokia Oyj is the Finnish telecommunications, information technology and consumer electronics company registered under Finnish business identity code 0112038-9, with its legal seat and headquarters at Karakaari 7 in Espoo and LEI 549300A0JPRWG1KI7U06; the GLEIF record dates the legal entity to 18 December 1896 and gives Nokia Corporation and Nokia Abp as its English and Swedish legal names.^[1] It is on this site as the company at the top of the group above Compagnie Générale d'Électricité: Nokia completed its acquisition of Alcatel-Lucent, the company that C.G.E. had become through its successive renamings, on 3 November 2016, retired the brand and merged it into its Nokia Networks division.^[2]

Nokia was established in 1865 as a pulp mill and was long associated with rubber and cables before it turned to telecommunications; it was the world's largest vendor of mobile phones for a decade from 1998, sold its handset business to Microsoft in 2014, and now builds network infrastructure and licenses its name for phones to HMD.^[3] It is a public limited company quoted on Nasdaq Helsinki and the New York Stock Exchange, and its GLEIF record carries a direct parent reporting exception in the category DIRECT_ACCOUNTING_CONSOLIDATION_PARENT with the reason NON_CONSOLIDATING, the entity's own statement that no parent consolidates it.^[3][4]
