Edel is an independent media group based in Hamburg, registered as Edel SE & Co. KGaA (HRB 155929, Hamburg).[1] Michael Haentjes founded it in 1986 as a mail-order business for film music; it listed on the Neuer Markt as edel music AG in 1998, a name it carried until 2007.[2][3] The group runs record labels and book publishers, and makes CDs, DVDs and vinyl at its subsidiary optimal media in Röbel/Müritz.[2][4]
