About Columbia Records Pressing Plant, Pitman

The Columbia Records Pressing Plant in Pitman, New Jersey, was opened by CBS for its Columbia label on 17 May 1961 as a high-capacity record plant; it pressed LPs until December 1986, began pilot compact disc production on 1 October 1987 and reached full CD capacity in January 1988.[1] It passed to Sony with CBS's music business in 1988, took the Sony Music name in 1991 and later joined the Sony DADC network, which closed it in early 2011 and moved production to Terre Haute, Indiana.[1] Its CDs carry "CMU P" hub stamps.[1][2]
