About
Bertelsmann Music Group (BMG) was the music division of the German media company Bertelsmann. It grew out of RCA/Ariola International, a 1985 joint venture combining RCA Records with Bertelsmann's Ariola labels, and was established as BMG in 1987. From 2004 to 2008 it held half of Sony BMG Music Entertainment; after selling the majority of its assets to Sony Corporation of America in 2008 it relaunched as BMG Rights Management.[1] Discogs lists RCA among its subsidiary labels and names Bertelsmann AG as its parent.[2]
