About
Bacardi Limited is the largest privately held, family-owned spirits company in the world, founded in Santiago de Cuba in 1862 by Facundo Bacardí Massó, a Spanish wine merchant from Sitges in Catalonia, and owned by his family for seven generations.[1] It is headquartered in Hamilton, Bermuda, is the group of companies that includes Bacardi International Limited, employs more than 8,000 people and sells in roughly 170 countries across a portfolio of more than 200 brands and labels, among them Bacardí rum, Martini, Bombay Sapphire, Grey Goose, Eristoff, Noilly Prat and the Breezer ready-to-drink range.[1][2][3] The Bermudian company itself was created on 22 November 1990, is registered as number 16025 at Clarendon House, Hamilton, gives its head office as 65 Pitts Bay Road, Pembroke and carries LEI 549300R32WTQNHNN5055; the 1862 date is the founding of the business in Cuba, not of this entity.[4] Its Belgian company is S.A. Bacardi-Martini Belgium N.V. of Medialaan 50, Vilvoorde, and the registered address it gives for the United Kingdom is Bacardi Global Brands Limited, The Steward Building, 12 Steward Street, London.[5][6]
GS1 company prefix 5010677 stays recorded as inferred rather than sourced. All 143 packs Open Food Facts holds under it carry a Bacardi group brand — Bacardi, Martini, Bombay Sapphire, Grey Goose, Eristoff, Noilly Prat, Breezer, Oakheart and Seven Tiki — so the licensee is a company of this group.[3] A search on 14 September 2026 found no source naming it: GS1's Verified by GS1 service and the retired GEPIR lookup answer a marketing page instead of a record, a full-text search of SEC EDGAR filings for the digits returns only unrelated fund holdings, and web searches for the prefix return barcode explainers rather than a registrant. GS1 UK issues the 500-509 blocks, so the licence most likely sits with one of the group's British companies — Bacardi Global Brands Limited, the address Bacardi itself gives for the United Kingdom, or Bacardi U.K. Limited, incorporated in 1941 and named Bacardi-Martini Limited until 1999 — but nothing published says which, so no company is written into gs1_prefixes.[7][6][8]
