Includes any products that may be described/observed as a substance used to coat a surface directly protecting and preserving the target material from destruction and decomposition. These products can be applied to wood to protect against wet and dry rot as well as insects. Includes products such as floorboard preserver, timber preserver and universal wood preservative.
