About

Includes any products than can be described/observed as a device which is fixed in place to soften water from a connected water supply. These devices soften the water by reducing the calcium or magnesium ion concentration in hard water. The water is passed through an ion-exchange resin in which the ions causing the hardness trade places with sodium ions, these are then released into the water making it much softer.

Excludes

Specifically excludes household preparations that are used to soften hard water. Excludes products such as Water Softener Replacement Parts/Accessories, Water Filtration Machines, De-Scalers and Water Treatment Kits.
