About Tahra
Tahra is a French independent label for historical recordings of classical music, founded in 1993 by Myriam Scherchen, daughter of the conductor Hermann Scherchen, and René Trémine, a member of the French Furtwängler Society.[1] Its name alters Tara, the plantation in Gone with the Wind, with an "h" for Hermann Scherchen.[1] The label issued archive recordings of conductors including Furtwängler, Scherchen, Knappertsbusch, Ančerl, Monteux and Mengelberg, and was distributed by Harmonia Mundi in most countries.[1] Discogs gives its label code as LC 09644 and says it has not been active since Trémine's death in 2014.[2]
