About
Skittles is a brand of multicoloured, fruit-flavoured, lentil-shaped candies with a hard sugar shell printed with a lowercase "s", produced and marketed by the Wrigley Company, a division of Mars.[1] The candies were introduced in 1971 by Jack Candies, a British distributor for Mars; Mars received a US trademark for the name in 1974, US production began in 1982, and Mars' Wrigley division acquired the brand in 2008.[1] Mars Canada lists Skittles among its brands with the slogan "Taste The Rainbow".[2] Canadian packs state that Skittles is a registered trademark of the Wm. Wrigley Jr. Company or its subsidiaries.[3]
