About

Saint James is a brand of rhum agricole from Martinique. According to Wikipedia, the rum was first distilled in 1765 at the Trou-Vaillant estate near Saint-Pierre and named Saint-James so it would sell to English-speaking buyers.[1] The distillery now stands in Sainte-Marie and belongs to Rhums Martiniquais Saint-James, a subsidiary of the La Martiniquaise group.[1] La Martiniquaise bought the brand from Rémy Cointreau in 2003.[2]
