About Pillsbury

Pillsbury is an American brand of baking and dough products that began in Minneapolis in 1869, when Charles Alfred Pillsbury and his uncle John S. Pillsbury founded C. A. Pillsbury and Company, a flour mill on the banks of the Mississippi.[1] The Pillsbury Company later moved into restaurants and frozen foods and introduced the Doughboy mascot in 1965; Grand Metropolitan bought it in 1989 and sold it to General Mills in 2001.[1] Today the round blue logo is used by two owners: General Mills markets the refrigerated and frozen dough, including canned biscuits, crescent rolls and the Grands! cinnamon rolls, while the shelf-stable flour and baking mixes passed to Smucker's in 2004 and to Brynwood Partners in 2018 and are sold by Hometown Food Company.[1][2]
