Chimay

About

Chimay is the beer and cheese brand of the Trappist community of Scourmont Abbey at Forges, near Chimay in Hainaut, Belgium. The brewery was founded inside the abbey in 1862 and was the first to put the Trappist Ale designation on its labels.^[1] The beers are known by the colour of their capsule and label: Red, White (Triple), Blue, Green and Gold, alongside barrel-aged Grande Reserve editions.^[2] Every bottle carries the hexagonal Authentic Trappist Product logo of the International Trappist Association.^[3] The brewing company behind the brand, Bieres de Chimay SA, is registered at Route Charlemagne 8 in Chimay.^[4]
