Camel

brand

About

Camel is an American cigarette brand created by Richard Joshua Reynolds in 1913, named for the Turkish tobacco in its blend and sold below the price of its rivals; 425 million packs went in the first year.[1] Ownership is split by territory: Japan Tobacco International took the rights to sell Camel outside the United States in 1999, and the non-American blend since then carries less Oriental tobacco and more Burley than the American one.[1] Inside the United States the brand remains with the R. J. Reynolds Tobacco Company.[1]
